Preparing to Fish at Headwaters

In an effort to please our customers we offer morning and afternoon trips. Morning trips are based around the time of the sunrise and afternoon trip times vary according to the bass bite and length of daylight. Cpt. Shellen will make arrangements with you detailing where and what time you will meet. After meeting with Cpt. Shellen you will take a short drive to the ramp where your Okeechobee fishing trip experience will begin.

Fishing at Headwaters in Fellsmere

First, your gear and provisions are stowed on-board. Remember to bring a jacket since it can get chilly out on the lake. We provide coolers on the boat so be sure to bring some food, snacks and beverages. Don’t forget the sunscreen and a camera for pictures of the catch of the day.

Next, your fishing guide will take you on a short, exhilarating run to one of our favorite spots. Our guides know the best locations on the lake where “catching the fish of a lifetime is possible with every cast”!

You should know that since the record low water of 2001, the Okeechobee fishery has rebounded remarkably. Seven to nine pound bass are caught regularly. And landing 10-11 pound trophies is more frequent now than at any time in recent history.
